Biography of Christopher Schafer

Christopher S. Schafer is an associate in the Advocacy Department and Government Relations Practice Group of the Ottawa Gowlings Office. Chris received his law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2005 and was called to the Ontario bar in 2006 after completing his articles of clerkship with Gowlings.

Prior to studying law, Chris received a Master's degree in political science from the University of Western Ontario and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in political science from Wilfrid Laurier University.

Chris sits on the Board of Director's of the Canadian Constitution Foundation, the Editorial Board of the c2c Journal, and is on the Executive of the Constitutional, Civil Liberties and Human Rights Section of the Ontario Bar Association, and is a Fellow at the Canadian Centre for Policy Studies.

A published author, Chris has written several studies and articles on public policy and legal issues for think tanks, journals, magazines, and newspapers. Chris has also worked on Parliament Hill for the Office of the Leader of the Official Opposition.
